hypnotherapy

Work directly with your unconscious

Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation, focused attention, and intense concentration to achieve a heightened state of awareness, often called a trance. It’s not about being controlled or put to sleep; rather, it’s a state similar to daydreaming or being engrossed in a movie, where the mind is more open to suggestion and positive change.

During a hypnotherapy session, your counsellor helps you access your subconscious mind to address unwanted behaviours, fears, or thought patterns. The goal is to help you reframe your mindset and build new, healthier habits. It is a collaborative process, and you remain in control and aware throughout the entire session.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic process that uses hypnosis to help you create positive change in your life. It involves guided relaxation and focused attention to reach a deeply relaxed state, where your mind is more receptive to new ideas and suggestions. This allows us to work directly with your subconscious mind to address the root causes of your challenges.

Will I lose control during a session?

This is a common and understandable concern, but no, you will not lose control. Hypnosis is not mind control. You are always aware and in charge. Think of it as a state of deep, focused concentration, similar to being completely absorbed in a book or a movie. You can open your eyes, speak, or end the session at any time.

What does a hypnotherapy session feel like?

Many people describe the hypnotic state as a feeling of deep relaxation, calm, and peacefulness. You may feel a sense of mental clarity and focus. It’s often compared to the feeling you have just before falling asleep or when you’re daydreaming. Every person’s experience is unique, but you will always be comfortable and aware.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Most people can be hypnotized. The key is a willingness to relax, focus, and follow the hypnotherapist’s guidance. The process is a collaborative effort between you and me.

Is Hypnotherapy safe?

Yes, when performed by a trained and certified professional, hypnotherapy is a safe and effective therapeutic tool. In fact, many health organizations recognize it as a complementary therapy for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, chronic pain, and phobias.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions can vary depending on your specific goals and the nature of the issue you want to address. While some clients experience noticeable shifts after just a few sessions, others may benefit from a longer process. We will discuss your progress and tailor a plan that works best for you.

About Me

Hello, I’m Jane Desplenter Rose, M.Ed. C.H.

(She/They)

As a wife, mother, counsellor, and lifelong learner, I understand that life is a journey with many twists and turns. I grew up moving around Canada before making my home in Saskatchewan, where I attended the University of Regina. My own experiences, combined with my studies in Philosophy and Psychology, have shown me that while we all follow different paths, we each have a deep potential for resilience, growth, and meaning.
I’ve also been where you are—banging my head against a wall trying to make things happen, only to feel empty when I succeeded. I’ve learned that it’s easy to trust old, familiar patterns, even when they don’t serve us.

Through years of study and practice, I’ve learned how to help clients identify inconsistencies between their values and their choices. In a non-judgmental and encouraging space, we can work together to help you shift your behaviours to better align with a full and meaningful life.

We often live our lives on autopilot, guided by habits, expectations, and the constant buzz of daily tasks. When asked what’s important to us, we might offer a quick, almost rehearsed list: family, honesty, success, kindness. These feel… obvious, right? Things everyone values. But here’s the thing: while the broad strokes of human values might…
