About

Jane Desplenter Rose, counsellor and hypnotherapist

(She/They)

Hello, I’m Jane Desplenter Rose, M.Ed., C.H.

I grew up moving around Canada before settling in Saskatchewan, where I attended the University of Regina. I’m a wife, mother, counsellor, and scholar of Philosophy and Psychology — and I’ve spent years thinking hard about what actually helps people build a meaningful life, both in my studies and in my own.

I completed my practicum with Family Service Regina and the Thrive Rapid Access Counselling clinic, where I trained across a range of therapeutic approaches. I’ve also spent a fair amount of time banging my head against a wall trying to force things to happen — and learned that succeeding at the wrong thing doesn’t feel like success. Old patterns are familiar, which makes them easy to trust even after they’ve stopped serving you.

Through years of study and practice, I’ve learned to help clients spot the gap between what they value and the choices they feel forced into. In a non-judgemental, encouraging space, we work together to close that gap — so your choices actually reflect what matters to you.

On working with complexity

I’m neurodivergent myself, and I support other neurodivergent clients from that same lived understanding. I’ve also spent time close to family members navigating their own mental health challenges — that proximity shaped how I show up in the room, even though their stories aren’t mine to tell. While much of my work is with clients navigating anxiety, grief, and life transitions, I’m also comfortable working alongside clients managing more complex presentations, often in coordination with their broader care team. Some of my most meaningful work has happened there. If that’s you, you don’t need to downplay it to be welcome here.

About Little Owl

In Greek mythology, the little owl accompanied Athena, goddess of wisdom — a symbol of insight and the ability to see clearly in the dark. It felt like the right namesake for this work: gaining clarity isn’t always comfortable, but it’s what makes real, values-aligned change possible.

Currently accepting clients located in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
